Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC)
The HCPC acts to protect the public by monitoring all its registrants and ensuring they are adhering to its requirements. They seek to maintain the highest standards in training, ethics and practice so that you can be confident your Clinical/Counselling Psychologist is practicing safely, lawfully and will be providing you with an exceptional level of care.
Anyone can call themselves a ‘Psychologist’. However, the titles ‘Clinical’ and ‘Counselling’ Psychologist are protected titles and only individuals who have completed a minimum of six-years of training, including a Doctoral-level qualification and who are registered with the HCPC can use these titles.
The British Psychological Society
The British Psychological Society is the representative body for psychology and psychologists in the UK. It is responsible for the promotion of excellence and ethical practice in the science, education, and practical applications of psychology. Chartered status reflects the highest standard in psychological expertise.
